Welcome to BusinessOwners.lk. These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") govern your registration and use of the BusinessOwners.lk business registry and directory (the "Platform"). By registering your business or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms, including the Member Waiver and Data-Sharing Agreement in section 4. If you do not agree, please do not register.

1. About BusinessOwners.lk

BusinessOwners.lk is a community-run registry and directory that helps Sri Lankan business owners list their businesses, be discovered, and connect with one another. The directory is available to registered members.

2. Eligibility and registration

You may register if you own or represent a genuine business operating in Sri Lanka. You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information about your business, and to keep it up to date. Each business should register once.

3. Review, approval and removal

Every registration is reviewed by our team before it appears in the directory. We may, at our discretion, review, approve, reject, suspend, edit or remove any listing, in particular listings that are inaccurate, misleading, duplicated, or that break these Terms. Approval of a listing does not imply any endorsement by BusinessOwners.lk.

4. Member Waiver and Data-Sharing Agreement

This section is important. By registering, you acknowledge and agree that:

Your business information, including your contact details (phone, WhatsApp, email, and any links you provide), will be visible to, and shared with, other registered members of BusinessOwners.lk, so that they can reach you for genuine business purposes. This sharing of your details with other members is the core purpose of the directory and the way other owners find and contact you.
Other registered members may use your contact details only for legitimate, professional business communication.
You will not misuse, copy, scrape, harvest, resell or redistribute any other member's information obtained through the Platform.
Spam, harassment, scams, fraud, misleading claims, or any illegal activity are strictly prohibited and may result in suspension or termination of your listing and account, without prior notice.
BusinessOwners.lk may review, approve, reject, suspend or remove any listing that violates these Terms.

5. Membership and fees

Your first year on BusinessOwners.lk is completely free, including registration, your listing and the core features. After the first year, keeping your business listed may require a low-cost annual membership. We will always tell you clearly and in advance before any charge applies, and you are free not to renew.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Platform lawfully and professionally. You will not post content that is false, offensive, discriminatory, or that infringes anyone's rights, and you will not attempt to disrupt, damage or gain unauthorised access to the Platform.

7. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for your dealings with other members. BusinessOwners.lk is a directory that helps businesses find each other; it is not a party to any transaction, agreement or dispute between members.

8. Intellectual property

You keep ownership of the content you submit (such as your business name, description, logo and photo) and you grant BusinessOwners.lk permission to display it within the Platform for the purpose of running the directory. The BusinessOwners.lk name, logo and site design remain our property.

9. Limitation of liability

The Platform is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BusinessOwners.lk is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the Platform, from other members' conduct, or from any business dealings that result from a connection made through the directory.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, including the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
